Australian Shearer's Table Conversion

An old shearer’s table, discovered on a family farm, was brought to us by a client with a vision: to preserve its heritage while transforming it into a functional dining piece. We were entrusted with restoring the original structure and thoughtfully converting it into a glass-topped dining table. The result is a striking blend of rustic character and contemporary design—a meaningful centrepiece that celebrates its Australian pastoral history while seamlessly fitting into a modern home.

At KLP Restorations, we specialize in the meticulous restoration and reproduction of fine furniture. A notable project that exemplifies our craftsmanship is the restoration of the Cedar Bookshelf.

A Tribute to Queensland's Heritage

In 1968, the Queensland Supreme Court building was tragically destroyed by an arson attack. Nearly 40 years later, we were honored to be privately commissioned to reproduce three original Cedar bookshelves that had been lost in the fire. Our project involved recreating three bookshelves with sideboard bases and one large standalone bookshelf. We meticulously crafted these reproductions using the original entablature and carvings that had been salvaged prior to the demolition of the old building. The result is a faithful restoration of these historic pieces, preserving a piece of Queensland’s architectural heritage.
