Commonly asked questions:
  • How much does upholstery cost in Brisbane?

Upholstery costs vary depending on the type of furniture, level of restoration required, and fabric selection. Antique pieces often require additional structural work such as frame repairs, webbing replacement, or traditional padding rebuilds.

At KLP Restorations, all upholstery quotes are individually tailored to suit each piece and each client’s needs.

To receive a quote, simply email or text us clear photos of your furniture along with your suburb, and we’ll assess the most suitable restoration approach.

  • Can antique chairs be reupholstered?

Yes, absolutely.

We specialise in antique chair restoration and traditional upholstery, and regularly restore:

  • dining chairs
  • barley twist chairs

  • armchairs

  • occasional chairs

  • chaise lounges

  • heritage and family heirloom seating

Most antique and vintage chairs can be successfully restored and reupholstered while preserving their original character and strength.

  • Do you supply fabric or can I choose my own?

We offer both options.

We can assist you in selecting high-quality upholstery fabrics from trusted suppliers such as:

  • Warwick Fabrics

  • Zepel Fabrics

  • Wortley Fabrics

Alternatively, you are very welcome to supply your own fabric, and we’re happy to advise whether it is suitable for upholstery use.

  • Do you collect furniture from Brisbane homes?

Yes — we provide pickup and delivery services across Brisbane and South East Queensland.

Your furniture can be safely collected from your home, transported to our workshop in Esk for restoration, and delivered back once completed.

This makes the restoration process simple and convenient for our Brisbane clients 🚚

  • Do you restore antique furniture as well as upholster it?

Yes. Unlike many upholstery services, KLP Restorations specialises in both timber restoration and upholstery, allowing us to complete full furniture restorations in-house.

This includes:

  • frame repairs

  • re-gluing

  • veneer repairs

  • strip and polish work

  • colour matching

  • traditional upholstery rebuilding

This ensures your piece is restored properly, not just recovered.

The Marlyn Monroe Chairs
8.The Marlyn Monroe Chairs

At KLP Restorations, we were honoured to undertake one of our most memorable upholstery projects to date: the restoration of a pair of armchairs once owned by Marilyn Monroe.

These remarkable pieces were acquired by their current owner through a prestigious international auction before being carefully transported to Australia and entrusted to our workshop for full restoration.

Our restoration work included:

  • structural frame re-gluing to restore strength and stability

  • careful rejuvenation of the original timber polish

  • complete re-upholstery using luxurious silk fabric from Zepel Fabrics

Every stage of the process was carried out with sensitivity to the chairs’ provenance and historical significance, ensuring the integrity of the original pieces was preserved while enhancing their longevity for future generations.

The finished result is a striking blend of timeless Hollywood glamour and refined contemporary craftsmanship, a beautiful example of how specialist antique upholstery restoration can honour both history and function.
